Facilities & BIM (Building Information Modeling)

Carolina CADWorks CAD drafting and design services are experienced with Facility CAD support in both Imperial and Metric units. This also includes 2D and 3D model layouts and drawings. CAD service support ranges from new construction to existing building expansions, and CAD layout drawings for prelimnary quotes for budgeting purposes. Facility and BIM support services have been performed locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. From our location in the Upstate of South Carolina (Greenvlle area), it is only a 90 minute drive to Columbia, South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina, a 2.5 hour drive to Atlanta, Georgia and only 4 hours away from the Knoxville, Tennessee area. The Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia and Douglass International Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina provides the gateway for international project support.

Facility CAD layouts have been designed from existing as built, paper and CAD drawings to “Greenfield” budget concept drawings. By using existing Facility CAD data, building expansions are easily conceptualized. This data also provides a cost effective process for project RFP and RFQ packages for concept, internal approval, and budgeting prior to being issued and awarded to engineering groups and or general contractors for design build.

Another facet of having an accurate Facility CAD layout, is that this data can be used for many types of process studies, capacity planning, product flow, Lean, 5s, training and many other applications. This also can include equipment and process relocations and new product process installation and planning. With accurate facility CAD data, this assist in controloling cost for contract and consulting charges.

Building Information Modeling, also known as BIM is becoming more prevalent in the building design and construction with BIM software. This type of modeling software also comes with a price for its application. There are applications where a BIM specific software package is required and necessary. Certain CAD software programs have command uses that can provide ways of inputting building informatoin into drawings. Carolina CADWorks and Penrod Services have developed methodology, by using these commands and options of existing CAD software, to input data for easy viewing and extraction. This data can range from construction phases, construction-drawing data, quote data, data location, takt and cycle times, service information, project years and budgets, to data required for MRP and SAP to name a few.
